The 2010 Acon Crianza is pure Tempranillo from 20-year-old vineyards with a minty profile, perhaps from a percentage of American barrels. It’s pure Tempranillo, ripe, balsamic, with notes of chocolate and a medium-bodied palate where the wine is juicy and has fine tannins, with moderate acidity. A good crianza. Drink now-2017.
Abadia de Acon is a winery created in 2003 by a family linked to viticulture for various generations close to Aranda de Duero. They seem to work with good vineyards, but somehow the wines are not there yet, and are quite influenced by the oak.
