Both Abrazo wines are 50-50 blends of Garnacha and Tempranillo. The 2006 Reserva spent 12 months in oak. It displays a similar nose of cedar, damp earth, spice box, violets, tobacco, and black cherry. On the palate it has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, some elegance, and a medium-long finish. The 2005 Reserva is equal parts Garnacha and Tempranillo aged in barrel for 12 months. Dark ruby-colored, it has a fragrant nose of cedar, mineral, spice box, and black cherry. The 2001 Reserva, a blend of 50% Garnacha and 50% Tempranillo, is medium ruby-colored. It exhibits nicely developed aromas of cedar, tobacco, cherry and red currants. Medium-bodied, it is soft and supple on the palate with good concentration as well as elegance. Drink this surprisingly sophisticated wine over the next 2-3 years.
