The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc has a light nose with subtle, Marlborough-inspired tropical fruits, a touch of fruit salad, rosewater and peach all well defined. Good balance on the palate, grassy overtones, nice acidity with a crisp, well-defined, slightly spicy finish. Crisp, lively and for a Sauvignon Blanc: relatively complex. All change at Anthem as winemaker Claire Mulholland upped sticks to move to Amisfield last year.No known US importer.

Handpicked with just under 5% of the crop fermented in French barriques, the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc has a beautiful, well-defined, feminine nose of passion fruit, guava, a touch of Manuka honey and peach. The palate is ripe and sweet with tropical fruit: peach, mango and apple with a touch of spice on the finish. It has noticeable glycerin, good length with just a touch of warm alcohol marring the aftertaste. Still an excellent, quite ravishing Sauvignon Blanc. Established in 2003, the person behind Anthem's wines is Claire Mulholland, who made her name at Martinborough Vineyards. They own 40 hectares of vines in the Gibbston Valley, consisting of 85% Pinot Noir using six clones planted on ancient river terraces.No known American importer.
