The concentration is slightly more approachable in the Barba 2015 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vignafranca compared to other samples from Barba, and you get great value here as well. Maybe it's the vintage, but this wine has a more measured bouquet, with blackberry preserves and hint of cherry cough syrup (the wine ages in barrique for 10 months). It is a more balanced and approachable wine overall. Serve it with some grilled sausage and fennel. Some 50,000 bottles were made.
