The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous wine laced with freshly cut flowers, dark raspberries, mint, spices and licorice. It shows gorgeous finesse in a mid-weight, vibrant style that is immensely appealing. A long, pointed finish rounds things out in style. The Cabernet Sauvignon includes 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. This is a very strong set of wines from Barnett Vineyards. As good as these wines are - and they are terrific - my sense is that with a little less new oak the fruit would shine through even more.Tel. (707) 963-7075

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain offers earthy, spicy aromas intermixed with a notion of black currants. Medium to full-bodied with more texture and richness than the Merlot, noticeable but sweet tannin and a distinct earthy character that permeates the aromas and flavors, this solidly made Cabernet Sauvignon should drink nicely for 7-10 years. It’s hard to believe that Barnett Vineyards is already 27 years old. Located on a beautiful hillside high on Spring Mountain, they have branched out from their original Cabernet program to include Chardonnays and, more recently, Pinot Noirs, all of which merit attention.Tel. A beauty, the deep, full-bodied 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain exhibits notes of blueberry pie, charcoal, wet steel, white flowers, and crushed rocks. Pure and dense, 2-3 years of bottle age is required, and it should keep for two decades. This Spring Mountain winery has fashioned their finest wines since the early nineties.Tel. Coffee, chocolate, black fruit, charred oak, liquorice, fruitcake and balsamic aromas. Broad and lush with soft, juicy tannins, lively acidity and a long minty, cassis length.
