The ragù-ready 2018 Rosso di Montalcino opens to a fruit-forward bouquet with dark cherry, blackberry and plum. Those berry tones are followed by spicy ones—nothing too intense—with cured tobacco and leather. This Rosso boasts a medium-bodied mouthfeel with even more dark fruit on the close. About 10,000 bottles were produced.

The 2012 Rosso di Montalcino doles out a very attractive, twofold punch of lively fruity and floral aromas: cherry, candied fruit, dried rose and lavender all rush from the glass. Among the various 2012 Rossos I tasted, this expression is certainly the most floral and feminine in personality.
