Bodega Enrique Foster’s 2006 Terruno Lunlunta Malbec was sourced from a 5 acre parcel of 40-year-old vines. It spent 12 months in 40% new French oak before bottling without filtration (as were all of these wines). Purple-colored, the nose offers up a slightly baked array of smoke and earth notes along with black cherry and plum. Medium- to full-bodied, on the palate it is round, layered, spicy, and concentrated. Black fruit, underbrush, and spice box elements emerge leading to a balanced and lengthy finish. Give this quality effort another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it from 2011 to 2018. Importer: Dreyfus, Ashby & Co., New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770
