The 2006 Otazu Crianza, a blend of 35% Tempranillo, 35% Merlot, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 14 months in French oak. Cedar, Asian spices, violets, tobacco, and assorted black fruits inform the nose of a smooth-textured, savory, intense wine with very good volume and length. Give it 1-2 years to fully blossom and drink this excellent value through 2018. An excellent value, the 2000 Crianza is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 15% Tempranillo aged 12 months in French oak. Its deep ruby color is followed by sweet aromas of juicy, crunchy blackberries and cherries, medium body, excellent texture, and a soft finish. It will drink well for 2-3 years.
