The 2016 Borsao Rose is pure Garnacha from young vines on clay and limestone soils fermented in stainless steel with neutral dry yeasts and bottled unoaked. It's pale and subtle, with a vibrant palate and crisp acidity. It is refreshing and dry, very apt for the table. They changed the style four or five years ago to this paler, subtler profile, that is very pleasant and drinkable. One to buy by the case. 400,000 bottles produced.

Slightly better, and interesting, is the 2015 Borsao Rosé, made from 100% Grenache. It is dry and crisp with loads of kirsch liqueur and a touch of spring flowers. Crisp acidity, an elegant mouthfeel and a dry finish add up to a delicious, super value in rosé to drink over the next 6-12 months.

The real winner is the 100% Grenache 2014 Borsao Rosé. This is crisp, elegant, dry and fresh with a medium-pink color, loads of vibrancy and plenty of strawberry and cherry fruit with a hint of spring flowers. Drink it over the next year.

Made from 100% Garnacha, the 2013 Rosé was fermented and aged in stainless steel. The good news is that 4,000 cases are produced of this flavorful rosé. It offers up notes of strawberries, kirsch and framboise in an elegant, light to medium-bodied style that finishes reasonably dry. Drink now.

The 2012 Borsao Rose (100% Grenache) exhibits delicate strawberry and cranberry fruit, a touch of minerality, medium body and a fresh, dry style. Drink it over the next year. This has long been a popular source for value-priced wines. Founded in 1958 in the appellation of Campo de Borja, Borsao owns a whopping 3,706 acres of vineyards planted at elevations of 1,300 to 2,300 feet above sea level. The soils are primarily limestone-based and the area is highly reputed for old vine Grenache, but there is also Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah planted as well as a few white varietals. Bodegas Borsao’s flagship offering is Tres Picos. Made from 100% Grenache from yields of less than two tons of fruit per acre, these chalky vineyards are planted at a 2,000 foot plus altitude on the hillsides of the Moncayo Mountains. The harvest is all done by hand, and the wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and French oak for ten months prior to bottling.
