The 2005 Campos Reales is an unoaked cuvee of 100% Tempranillo from yields of 2 tons of fruit per acre, remarkably low for a wine at this humble price point. Dark ruby-colored with a fruity nose of crushed violets and blackberry, this medium-bodied wine has gobs of juicy, crunchy fruit. It is nicely balanced and has a lengthy finish. An excellent value from 30-year old Tempranillo vines, this tank-fermented and aged, medium-bodied 2003 is all fruit. Reminiscent of Beaujolais, it reveals hints of bubble gum, Kool Aid, strawberries, and cherries in a clean, fruity style. It could be served slightly chilled over the next 12-18 months.
