The fruit-driven and ripe 2014 Jaun de Alzate Crianza didn't reach the ripeness of other vintages. The rustic palate has abundant, grainy tannins that end quite dry. 25,000 bottles produced.

The 2011 Jaun de Alzate Crianza is mainly Tempranillo with 5% each Graciano and Mazuelo, fermented in stainless steel and matured in American oak barrels for 18 months. It has signs of extreme ripeness, verging on the overripeness along with notes of baked apples and black berries in liqueur. The palate offers abundant, grainy tannins that end quite dry. 68,000 bottles produced.

The 2010 Jaun de Alzate Crianza is in the more classical range, with a completely traditional label, a bright, translucent cherry color and a discrete nose of fresh red fruit and a pleasant palate with moderate, fine tannins. Easy to drink. Drink 2014-2017. This 150,000-bottle family business is run by Loli Casado, the third generation of winegrowers in the Rioja Alavesa with a base of 25 hectares of vineyards in Lapuebla de Labarca and Laguardia, 45% of which were planted by her grandfather 60-80 years ago, 55% by her father and the remaining 10% were planted in 1999. In 2004, they built a new winery and increased the number of wines offered, which are produced in a clean, modern style and offered at very good prices. Various American importers, Cognac One, Spanish Vineyard Imports, Vitis Imports, Atlanta Improvement Company and Symposiums Brands.

The 2008 Jaun de Alzate Crianza is a blend of 90% Tempranillo , 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano from 35- to 45-year-old vines in Alavesa, aged for 18 months in oak casks. It has a well-mannered bouquet with ripe red berries, leather and black pepper that displays fine focus and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. It is very well-balanced, very natural with rounded red currant and wild strawberry towards the finish. It carries the oak very well and represents a superb Crianza! Drink now-2020. Bodegas Loli Casado is a family-run winery that owns 25 hectares of vine in Alavesa, the oldest of which were planted more than 75-years ago. They produce a set of commendable wines and a couple of great ones under the “Jaun de Alzate” line. It is a shame that these are not presently imported into the United States. No known US importer.
