The 1999 Vitola, a blend of 96% Tempranillo and 4% Graciano, was aged for 35 months in new French and American oak before being bottled unfiltered. Medium ruby-colored, the wine is muted aromatically with the oak dominating the fruit. On the palate, fruit plays a more assertive role with plentiful quantities of spicy black fruit flavors intermixed with moderate tannin. The wine finishes firmly suggesting that it be consumed over the next several years before the fruit fades.
