The young and fresh Mencía 2021 Ramón Valle has a moderate 13% alcohol and a juicy palate with soft tannins, making it approachable and easy to understand. It comes from different plots of old vines, mostly on clay and boulder soils, and it fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in used oak barrels for seven months. It's subtle and clean, varietal and aromatic, with floral and berry aromas and flavors and fine tannins balanced by nice freshness. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2023.

The 2015 Ramón Valle revealed dark fruit flavors, quite high ripeness and some notes of peat, graphite and singed leather. The palate is dense and voluptuous, with ripe flavors and moderate acidity. 25,000 bottles produced.

The 2013 Ramón Valle, Mencía like all the reds here, aged for eight months in a combination of French, American and Russian oak. There are some exotic aromas and notes of orange peel and something earthy, quite subtle. The palate is medium-bodied and reveals fine, abundant tannins and good freshness. 30,000 bottles produced.

The 2012 Ramón Valle is pure Mencía aged for seven months in a combination of French, American and Russian oak. The nose is clean, with well-integrated oak, intermixed with flowers and wild berry aromas. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and fresh, with very fine tannins. 2012 was a shorter vintage, with 30,000 bottles were produced.

Fresh and focused, this red has a plump texture, with rich flavors of plum, fig paste, coffee and spice. The tannins and acidity are gentle, showing enough structure for food. Drink now through 2018. 1,250 cases made, 250 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Bierzo Select to Add
