A barrel sample of the 2009 Clos des Andes Reserva (which is now in bottle) displays a similar aromatic and flavor profile but with greater concentration and structure. The 2008 Clos de Andes Reserva is 100% Malbec that was aged for 10 months in French oak. Purple in color, it offers up an alluring nose of cedar, mineral, cinnamon, clove, boysenberry, and black raspberry. On the palate it is smooth textured with an easygoing personality along with plenty of savory, ripe fruit, good depth, and a fruit-filled finish. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 6-8 years. Dark ruby/purple in color, it offers up an alluring bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, and black cherry. This leads to a wine with excellent density, layered fruit, and spicy black fruit flavors nicely concealing enough structure for 2-3 years of further development.
