The 2009 Sauvignon is striking for the way it expresses both varietal character and ripe fruit. This shows gorgeous depth in its succulent peaches, mint, tomato leaf and sage in a textured style that flows through effortlessly to the long, creamy finish. This is the reference-point Sauvignon from Cormons in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Proprietor Nicola Manferrari has few peers in Friuli, or Italy for that matter. This is a gorgeous set of truly exceptional world-class whites. As always, the only issue is finding the wines. It would be great to see Borgo del Tiglio gain more traction in the US. The 2007 Sauvignon is very representative of the Sauvignons from this particular part of the Friulian Collio, particularly in its bold bouquet. Tomato leaf, sage, mint, minerals and white peaches are some of the nuances that emerge from this generous white. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. This is a wonderful set of new releases from Borgo del Tiglio and proprietor Nicola Manferrari.
