My favorite in the portfolio is the 2009 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard. Made without stems, it offers up an alluring perfume of dried herbs, a hint of barrel, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. Medium to full-bodied, velvety-textured, and nicely balanced, this lush effort will be at its best from 2012 to 2019, possibly longer. Broadley Vineyards is located in southern Willamette Valley closer to Eugene than Portland. This family-owned winery sources fruit from prime AVAs in northern Willamette Valley as well as from their own estate. The winery utilizes 30% new oak on all of their Pinots.Tel. Medium ruby red with a seductive nose of Asian spices, incense, rose petal, sandalwood, black cherry, and black raspberry, on the palate it is packed with spicy fruit buttressed by lively acidity and enough structure to evolve for another 3-4 years. The 2007 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard has the best aromatics of the collection. Smoke, cigar box, spice notes, black cherry, and black raspberry scents lead to a medium-bodied, suave Pinot with some well-concealed ripe tannin, excellent depth and concentration, and succulent flavors.
