Subtle notes of cherries and raspberries with hints of nut shell, ground spices and dry earth. Medium-bodied, vivid and juicy with round tannins and a sleek, fruit-forward finish. Drink from 2025.

The Pertinace 2019 Barbaresco Nervo has a hint of extra ripeness or softness that sets an easy and approachable tone. It shows cherry and plummy fruit with some crushed stone, spice and pencil shaving. The tannins are also quite evident in this wine from the classic 2019 vintage.

This is firm and airy, with a tensile structure supporting floral, cherry, tar, tobacco and mineral flavors. Shows intensity and finesse, presenting a long, detailed aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Ripe, soft and round, the 2012 Barbaresco Nervo opens to a proud and lavish personality. This hot-vintage Nebbiolo embraces themes of abundance and power with plenty of black fruit and savory spice on the close.

The 2010 Barbaresco Vigneto Nervo does a better job of showing the pure essences of the grape. White truffle and forest floor are more reminiscent of the natural aromas of the Langhe. The tannins are polished and smooth and the wine tastes beautifully silky overall. The Nervo showed best in this tasting. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022. An interesting model for the Langhe that otherwise relies on mom-and-pop wineries, Pertinace is a co-operative with 15 members spread across the region.
