The 2011 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Vignassa reveals an inky black, impenetrable color and thick concentration. The wine shows dark fruit, bold cherry and dried fruit aromas. There are savory aromas of cured meat and cured tobacco. As far as Barbera goes, this wine shows a thorny side with bright acidity and thick texture. It would make a good pairing partner to stewed or braised meat dishes. Smoke and granite appear on the finish.
