A barrel-aged selection, the 2018 Saint Joseph Cuvee Cote Diane deftly combines blueberries, cherries and black olives into a harmonious fruity-savory mix. The luscious, fruity 2009 St.-Joseph Cuvee Cote Diane exhibits a deep ruby color along with lots of raspberry and strawberry fruit, a round, medium-bodied texture, real elegance, a Burgundy-like suppleness and a suave personality. This cooperative has a good track record of turning out value-priced reds from the St.-Joseph appellation. Given the explosively high prices encountered for most northern Rhones, it is rewarding to find wines of this quality at such reasonable prices. A fine cuvee is the 1998 St.-Joseph Cuvee Cote Diane, which saw about 25% new oak casks. It boasts a dark ruby color as well as a sweet, jammy nose of cherry liqueur, blackberries, and cassis. There is lovely sweet fruit on the attack, with plenty of glycerin, medium body, excellent extract, soft tannin, and a sense of elegance and complexity. This excellent cooperative specializes in St.-Joseph. The 1995 St.-Joseph Cuvee Cote Diane possesses a dense ruby/purple color, and a lovely sweet black fruit-scented nose with minerals and spice in the background. Medium-bodied, with more concentration than the other cuvees, the Cote Diane cuts a broader, more expansive mouthfeel, but it still reveals elegance and sweet fruit.
