Roasted herbs and black fruits can be discerned in the aromatics of the 2002 Pic St.-Loup–Coteaux du Languedoc. Medium-bodied and with considerable power, this excellent value boasts an appealing personality crammed with tar-laced blackberries and black currants. Anticipated maturity: now-2008. Incidentally, the 1998 Pic St.-Loup–Coteaux de Languedoc Vieilles Vignes was recently tasted. It has reached its plateau of maturity and is well-deserving of the 89 points it was attributed in Issue #127. The medium to dark ruby-colored 2001 Coteaux du Languedoc-Pic St.-Loup bursts from the glass with peppered black raspberries and blackberries. Juicy, grapy, and light to medium-bodied, it is a spicy, highly expressive wine that is loaded with chocolate-laced dark fruits. Drink it over the next 4 years.
