It is a shame dry rose is not appreciated more by Americans. This knock-out 1993 Faugeres Rose (made primarily from Mourvedre) offers up a smashingly perfumed nose of jammy strawberries and flowers. With terrific fruit, medium body, and a surprisingly long, dry finish, this rose's body and flavor are not from residual sugar, but from flavor extraction. A lovely rose for summertime quaffing, it should last for 12-18 months. Chateau des Estanilles, a highly regarded, relatively new domaine (founded in 1986), has been receiving accolades from the French wine press. Several of their selections from the Languedoc-Roussillon are expensive for wines from this region, but there is no doubting the high aspirations possessed by the proprietor, the Louison family, and the laudable results they have achieved.Importer: a Daniel Johnnes Selection, Jeroboam Imports, New York, NY; tel.
