The fruit-dominated 2019 Saint Joseph kicks off with scents of raspberries and black cherries. It's a medium to full-bodied effort, like so many this vintage, with ample concentration and rich, creamy mouthfeel leading into a long, supple finish. I'd drink it young, while the fruit is still pristine, although I suspect it will age decently for up to a decade.

Showing a bit of sweet-seeming oak right now, the 2016 Saint Joseph also boasts ripe cherry fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, plush and creamy in texture, but it's missing some complexity. While certainly enjoyable now, hopefully it will show better out of bottle.

Notes of incense, flowers, graphite and menthol all emerge from the 2015 Saint Joseph. This medium to full-bodied 2015 has stunning purity and elegance, nicely integrated acidity, and will cruise in the cellar for over a decade.

The 2014 St Joseph is a medium-bodied, lightly textured and pretty effort that offers forward notes of strawberries, currants, licorice and crushed herbs. Completely destemmed and aged 12 months in one- to three-year-old barrels, it doesn’t have much depth, but is delicious and ideal for near term drinking.

The 2013 Saint Joseph has outstanding potential. Brought up all in barrel (10% new), it offers impressive notes of spice, dried violets and red and black raspberry. Medium-bodied, supple and textured, yet still fresh and lively, drink it over the coming 5-6 years or so.
