The 2013 Nebbiolo d'Alba Marghe shows tight lines and pristine flavors of small berry fruit, forest bramble, blanched almond and blue flower. The wine is simple and tight, but very nicely executed. Pungent tones of crushed white peppercorn appear on the close. Pair this simple Nebbiolo with entrec?te in cream sauce and a side of crispy fries.

The 2011 Langhe Nebbiolo Marghe is a terrific wine that shows the bright intensity of the Nebbiolo grape framed by fresh notes of cherry fruit, rosebud, polished stone and licorice. The wine goes down easily and refreshes the palate thanks to its balanced acidity. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016. Damilano enjoys access to some of the best fruit in Piedmont. They own a whopping 73 hectares including important holdings in arguably the three most celebrated crus of Barolo/La Morra: Brunate, Cerequio and Cannubi. They are in the enviable position of being able to offer a wide selection of wines, each one an expression of an individual territory, and they also deliver very respectable entry-level Barolos. Damilano’s 2010 Nebbiolo d’Alba Marghe is a pretty wine laced with sweet red cherries, flowers, mint and spices, all of which come together in a gracious, medium-bodied personality that is quite appealing. The 2009 Nebbiolo d’Alba Marghe is a rich wine packed with fruit. This is a decidedly generous style of Nebbiolo from Alba, but all of the elements come together very nicely. A plump, varietally expressive finish rounds things out in style. This is a great effort in its class. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017. Damilano’s 2007s Baroli are big, massive wines that appear to need several years in bottle. They have plenty of underlying structure, and while ripe, they are also well balanced.
