The 2009 Barbaresco Bric Micca is a pretty, if somewhat fragile wine. Sweet tobacco, dried cherries, mint and autumn leaves all come together in this fragrant, feminine Barbaresco. The 2009's light to mid-weight structure suggests it is best enjoyed over the next few years. I just don't see the depth to support extended cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. The 2008 Barbaresco Bric Micca is a delicate, feminine wine. Sweet red cherries, flowers, spices and herbs flow from this ethereal, translucent Barbaresco. It is a pretty Barbaresco with lovely inner perfume and a fine, chiseled finish. Readers who appreciate the understated side of Nebbiolo will find much to admire. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. This features an awkward mix of oak spice and cherry jam that don't quite mesh with the fruit at this stage. This lacks purity, but is concentrated, and the wood notes linger. The 2005 Barbaresco Micca is a floral, perfumed offering redolent of spices, small red fruits and herbs. This is a relatively approachable, delicate style, with nicely refined tannins, even if some green notes occasionally come through that suggest a degree of under-ripeness. Ideally I would choose to drink this on the young side. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.
