Lip-smackingly good, offering up gobs of blackberries, cherries and cocoa, with appealing herb overtones. New oak, to the tune of 100%, is obvious in the vanilla and toast, but totally in keeping with the wine’s volume. Expensive, yes, but a very fine wine, showcasing what Napa Cab can do at a world-class level. But you want to cellar it, because it’s all primary fruit, unintegrated oak and tannins now. Beyond the sweet cedar application you’ll find deep, noble flavors of black currants and minerals, wrapped into the finest tannins imaginable.
