One of the highlights of the range, the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers unfurls in the glass with notes of orange zest, raspberries, sweet spices and petals. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and impressively concentrated, with powdery tannins and lively acids, this south-facing site has performed especially well.

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers was not touched by the frost according to Bruno. I could not quite get to grips with the somewhat earthy nose, just missing the brightness that I was expecting. Maybe some reduction? The palate is intense and tensile with fine-grain tannin, plenty of zinging red berry fruit and a spicy, assertive finish that is brimming full of energy. It will need five or six years in bottle but despite the reduction I can see the potential here.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers has a very expressive bouquet with plenty of redcurrant, cranberry and crushed strawberry scents, interwoven with dried rose petal and orange blossom aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, compact red cherry and strawberry fruit and a lovely spicy, almost Oriental note towards the structured finish. There is a lot going on in this Gevrey-Chambertin - totally absorbing and ethereal.

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1Er Cru Cazetiers has a powerful bouquet with plenty of black cherry, sous bois and subtle licorice notes emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite backward, but for a Cazetiers, there is serious substance here, smooth and harmonious toward the finish and very persistent on the aftertaste. Give this several years in bottle and you will have a superb Cazetiers, one of the best this vintage. Chapeau, Bruno! Tasted September 2017.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers has a lifted raspberry and redcurrant-scented bouquet that needs to develop a little more complexity and terroir-expression. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, a keen line of acidity, and impressive harmony and refinement on the finish - red cherries and wild strawberry fruit. This is a winsome Cazetier that might hold a torch to the Clos Saint-Jacques 2013 if the aromatics can muster greater nuance.
