The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Bousselots has a light coffee-tinged bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit that is nicely defined. The palate is well balanced with crisp, supple tannins and sweet red cherry and raspberry preserve notes. There is moderate weight in the mouth, although the finish is just a little conservative. Yet still, I think this will turn out nicely once in bottle.

There is a hint of the sauvage present on the more deeply pitched nose of various red and dark berries and pungent earth scents. While there is a touch of rusticity to the dense and powerful medium-bodied flavors the overall impression is actually one of this being one of the more refined Nuits 1ers as the balance is lovely. Note that this will definitely benefit from a few years of bottle age and reward up to a decade's worth.

The 2012 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Bousselots is according to Blair, a difficult parcel to farm as it has a drainage problem, possibly because of a hidden spring. Some of the vines have been pruned Cordon to reduce yields. The nose is slightly reticent at the moment, although with time it reveals attractive, brambly red fruit with earthy tones. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. This is tight, masculine and linear, but there is a lovely silkiness which augurs well for the future. Good potential, but it will need time in bottle.

An interesting nose presents citrus blossom and tangerine skin nuances on the otherwise more typical red currant and earth aromas. There is good energy to the more obviously mineral-infused medium weight flavors that possess equally good depth and length on the balanced finish where the supporting tannins are not quite as refined. I like the balance and this should repay up to a decade of cellar time.
