The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves shows promise, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of smoky berry fruit, peonies, spices and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, vibrant acids and sweet tannins, it was picked before the mid-harvest rains.

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves is still a little reserved after its recent bottling, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries and raspberries mingled with hints of spices and new oak. Medium to full-bodied and ample, with lively acids and powdery, chalky tannins, it will reward a bit of patience.
