Aromas of dark berries, cherries, sweet soil tones and spices preface the 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Chanlin, a medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned wine with powdery tannins, bright acids and a long, mineral finish. It's an attractive effort that will offer a broad drinking window.

Aromas of sweet berries and plums mingle with hints of raw cocoa and spices, introducing the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Chanlin, a medium to full-bodied, taut and lively wine that—as seems routinely to be the case—one of the more structured, youthfully reserved wines in the range.

The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Chanlin wafts from the glass with complex and expressive aromas of cherries, cassis, dark chocolate, smoked meats and incense. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, firm and structured, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins and bright acids. This is one of the more reserved wines in the range.
