Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru la Forêts has a touch of white cotton on the nose, later hints of orange rind and green apple. It is pleasant although not terribly complex. The palate is well balanced with nicely judged acidity, good weight with lemon rind and a touch of spice on the finish. It just lacks the sophistication of the top tier in Chablis this vintage, although it should offer modest drinking pleasure over the next four to five years, possibly longer.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru la Foret has a light, chalky bouquet that for me is missing a little mineralité. The palate is a little shrill on the entry, bitter lemon on the tip of the tongue but it needs to be counterbalanced by more weight and fruité on the back palate. As a consequence, it just feels a little attenuated and lean. Tasted May 2016.

This wine was tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chablis 1er Cru la Foret has an engaging lemon thyme and fresh apple-scented bouquet, with a touch of cold granite seeping through with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant with bitter lemon and fresh ginger, as well as nicely weighted with good detail on the finish. This is an understated but sophisticated Chablis.
