I actually preferred it to the 2009 St.-Joseph Terres d'Arce, a more modern-styled cuvee revealing more new oak along with medium to full-bodied flavors. At this stage of development, the oak component is dominating the wine's fruit.From their holdings in three major appellations, St.-Joseph, Cornas and Crozes-Hermitage, Michelas St.-Gemms produces an impressive array of wines. The 2008 St.-Joseph Terres d’Arce possesses surprisingly good fruit as well as abundant minerality, and the Terres d’Arce has blacker fruit, more meat and slightly more smokiness. Both should be consumed over the next 6-8 years. Domaine Michelas St.-Gemme, which is located in Beaume le Michelas, has holdings in St.-Joseph, Cornas and Crozes-Hermitage.No known American importer.

Far superior is the 2006 St.-Joseph Terres d’Arce. Displaying plenty of pure raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with licorice, spice box, and roasted herb characteristics, good minerality, a lovely texture, and a soft finish, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years.No known American importer.
