Exhibiting aromas of pear, buttered citrus, orange oil and fresh pastry, the 2018 Monthélie Les Duresses Blanc is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and open-knit, with a pretty core of fruit and succulent acids. While it's not especially concentrated, it will make for charming near-term drinking.

The 2017 Monthélie 1er Cru Les Duresses Blanc is one of the racier wines in the cellar, unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear and citrus fruit, framed by a deft touch of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, pure and tensile, with tangy acids and a mouthwatering finish.

The 2015 Monthélie 1er Cru Les Duresses Blanc comes from vines planted on disintegrated limestone soil and it sees 20% new oak. It has a pleasant bouquet with subtle tropical scents, lime flower and a faint touch of smoke. The palate is balanced with a soft entry with hints of mango and citrus fruit, easygoing with a generous, slightly toffee-ish finish. Enjoy this pretty Monthélie over the next 2-4 years.

The 2011 Monthelie Les Duresses comes from a 0.5-hectare parcel and sees 20% new oak for 12 months. It is distinctly herbaceous on the nose with smoky scents, even gravelly notes emerging with aeration. The palate is balanced with attractive lime and subtle tropical notes on the entry, although it runs out of steam toward the finish.
