The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières has a tightly wound, granitic bouquet that is not quite as expressive as the Meursault from Xavier Monnot, though there are pleasant apple blossom and honeysuckle scents that gain confidence as the wine aerates. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite linear in the mouth, fresh if not quite as complex as the Charmes, but it is still worth seeking out.
