From the very best parcels and selected several times in the vineyard and again raisin by raisin in the cellar, the golden-yellow colored 2021 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (Gold Capsule) is super clear, even fresh and beautifully aromatic on the concentrated and defined nose that reveals apricot and peach as well as floral and spicy slate aromas. This TBA has even more definition than the Hubertuslay Eiswein, although this TBA is based on perfectly dried botrytis raisins. On the palate, this is a concentrated, lush and viscous but also refined, highly delicate TBA with fine grip, mineral tension and stimulating precision. A memorable TBA. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.

From the Kribslay and H?dlay parcels and picked with 200° Oechsle, the 2019 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (Gold Capsule) opens with a beautifully fine, elegant, aromatic and very concentrated bouquet that is absolutely graceful and full of spices, with a delicately dusty raisin tone, a touch of caramel and refreshing lemon notes. Dense and straight away piquant and salty, with contracting, tightening lemon and grapefruit notes, this TBA is gorgeously sweet, lush and so delicate and playful—buoyant, with a refreshing orange aroma on the persistently salty and frisky finish. Even though the neck isn't dressed with a long gold capsule, this is an absolutely fabulous TBA that was bottled with 330 grams of residual sugar and 13 grams per liter of total acidity. Tasted from AP 14 20 in May and June 2020. Total production: 150 liters.

From the H?dlay and Kriebslay plots that also made up the Auslese, Christian Hermann's intensely golden-yellow colored 2018 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (Gold Capsule) was still a bit volatile initially when I tasted it a week after the bottling in late July this year. However, clarity, concentration and freshness are spectacular on both the nose and palate after a while in the glass and days in the uncorked bottle. Featuring rich and oily consistency, the wine has remarkable finesse and freshness, and everything is highly refined and stimulatingly piquant. A very concentrated elixir made with grapes that were picked at 200° Oechsle and bottled with 360 grams per liter of residual sugar, this Treppchen TBA is terribly sweet but rarely is it as light-footed, elegant and digestible as here. This is a spectacular effort, but wine collectors should be patient: this TBA will gain in complexity over the years in the bottle. 6% alcohol. Total acidity: 11.2 grams per liter.

The 2017 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Gold Capsule is clear and intense on the nose, with aromas of perfectly ripe, stewed and concentrated stone fruit. This is a sweet, dense, concentrated, very intense but refined, elegant and even mineral Riesling with great aging potential. Tasted in March 2019.

Picked at 235° Oechsle around mid-October, like the Auslese Gold Capsule, the dark golden-yellow 2015 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Gold Capsule is made from pure and dried raisins. This Riesling is super clear and ripe on the nose, with intense, yet precise peach and some sweet spicy aromas. Viscous and very concentrated on the palate, this is a very intense, piquant and sweet, but also highly finessed and precise TBA. There is vital acidity and a bitter grapefruit flavor in the finish.
