This is a partially barrique-aged bottle from the cellar made with late-harvest fruit that sees some brief skin maceration. It is a dry wine, but it shows plenty of sweet honey and beeswax. The Fontanavecchia 2014 Falanghina del Sannio Taburno Libero is round and soft for sure, showing lots of volume and texture. It offers candied peach and even a touch of butterscotch, but these aromas have developed over the seven years since the harvest. It's an interesting, offbeat wine that straddles two worlds, old and new, sweet and savory. Only 1,990 examples were released.
