This is a cheerfully fresh and zesty wine to drink on informal occasions. The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino (with 5,600 bottles made) opens to a pretty bouquet with cherry, raspberry and red currant. There are mild background hints of smoke and tar. It washes over the palate with simplicity and ease.

The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino offers delicate lines with soft intensity. This is a nicely contoured and balanced red wine with an informal but very friendly and approachable personality. Aromas of dark cherry and cassis move seamlessly to light spice and campfire ash. This Rosso ages in French and Slavonian oak for ten months just to smooth out any rough edges.

The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino Fossacolle is a huge wine bursting with dark red cherries, mint, sweet herbs, flowers and licorice.
