The estate’s 2004 Montefalco Sagrantino is made in a plush style redolent of spices, toasted oak, chocolate and ripe dark fruit. It is a beautiful, polished wine with gorgeous balance and sweet, elegant tannins for Sagrantino. As generous as this wine is, it does lack some varietal typicity. The Sagrantino spent 18 months in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019.
The Pardi family has been making wine since 1919, but only began estate-bottling with the 2003 vintage. These are richly-textured, modern-styled wines of notable class. Pardi will be an estate to keep a close eye on as the wines show a lot of potential.
