The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is an excellent introduction to the vintage. Plush, rich and seductive, the 2010 offers up scents of plums, red cherries, tobacco and cloves. This is a fairly soft style for the year, but all the elements fall into place nicely. Savory herbs and crushed rocks add the final nuances of complexity in this attractive, mid-weight Rosso. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
Proprietor Roberto Guerrini describes 2008 as a fairly normal year, with a regular flowering and a hot summer. The harvest started around September 20 and lasted a week. In addition to these new releases, I also tasted a number of wines from tank and barrel, the most promising of which are the 2012s, which are absolutely glorious today.
