The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is a delightful wine with a bright ruby appearance followed by fresh fruit flavors. The wine offers wild berry, violets, lilacs and fragrant aromas of moist potting soil. A lasting sense of intensity and freshness drives this wine clean over the palate. It would pair nicely with any cheese-heavy dish such as pasta or lasagna.

The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is an excellent introduction to the vintage. Plush, rich and seductive, the 2010 offers up scents of plums, red cherries, tobacco and cloves. This is a fairly soft style for the year, but all the elements fall into place nicely. Savory herbs and crushed rocks add the final nuances of complexity in this attractive, mid-weight Rosso. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. Proprietor Roberto Guerrini describes 2008 as a fairly normal year, with a regular flowering and a hot summer. The harvest started around September 20 and lasted a week. In addition to these new releases, I also tasted a number of wines from tank and barrel, the most promising of which are the 2012s, which are absolutely glorious today. The 2007 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is a gorgeous wine loaded with rich, textured fruit. This is an especially generous, vivid Rosso with impeccable concentration and richness that nevertheless stays light on its feet. The finish is long and caressing. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. What a joy it is to taste these new releases from Fuligni. The Brunellos in particular are both exceptional for their respective vintages.
