With a 2004 Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Auslese A.P. #16 we enter not only the realm of botrytis, but also of additional refinement of texture and flavor. The wine smells intensely of peach and quince preserves and honey. Enormously sweet but succulent and refined in its texture and its expression of ripe, supportive acidity, this Auslese positively billows into a long, pure finish of vanilla-tinged fruit preserves, but also sappy juicy fresh fruit layers.
