This is great Riesling, even though its youthful, yeasty character shows it is only just starting out on its development. The 1999 Riesling Zobinger Heiligenstein is a zesty, ripe, and fresh wine, displaying aromas of quinine and minerals. Honeysuckle, citrus fruits, and violets are found in this expansive, floral, light to medium-bodied offering. Drink it over the next 8 years. Flowers and minerals are found in the aromatics of the 1998 Riesling Zobinger Heiligenstein. The wine is light to medium-bodied, velvety-textured, and plump. Its spicy pear flavors are somewhat diffuse (when compared to the outstanding 1999 and 2000) yet it is well-made, balanced, and expressive. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
