A strong streak of pure vanilla highlights the flavors here. The fruit tastes of fresh-picked strawberries. This is 100% Syrah made from estate-grown fruit.

This is straight-ahead, dark, smoky Syrah, with a slightly roasted character that enhances the varietal character. Despite its dark hues and assertive nose, it does not fall heavy in the mouth; the acids are lively and the wine almost silky, with flavors more mature than its relatively youthful vintage might suggest.

While one taster found this wine disturbingly close to vegetal, others were more enthusiastic, calling it soft and expansive. There's some red fruit on the nose, but the flavors are darker, more akin to blackberry according to this wine's proponents.

It's a big, thick wine with hefty tannins and acidity; very dry and rather austere. It's not likely to improve in the bottle like a big Cabernet, but with the right foods--braised ribs--it could be just the right thing.
