The 2005 Merlot (Bravdo) is vegetal and simple. It develops a little with air, but is too green to be of much interest. There are some light tannins around the edges and it has a pleasing, velvety mouthfeel. It is hard to get past the veggies, though. Drink now-2011. The formal name notwithstanding, be aware that the label has BRAVDO in big letters, a reference to professor of viticulture, Ben Ami Bravdo, who acts as co-winemaker and co-owner with a former student, Oded Shoseyov, whose family has grown grapes for over a century.
