The outstanding 1997 Bombereto vino da is structured and surprisingly tight, even though the vintage produced wines with more significant ripeness and lower acidity. The fruit, glycerin, and richness detonate on the palate. With undeniable promise and massive structure, it has the feel of a Cabernet-based wine. The 1996 Bombereto vino da tavola is a 100% Sangiovese that was picked ripe and bottled unfiltered. One-third of it spent time in new French oak. It is a gorgeous, intense wine with a Merlot-like plumpness and fatness. Explosive blackberry and cherry fruit intermixed with coffee, smoke, and caramel soar from the glass of this complex Sangiovese.
