The 1996 Bombereto vino da tavola is a 100% Sangiovese that was picked ripe and bottled unfiltered. One-third of it spent time in new French oak. It is a gorgeous, intense wine with a Merlot-like plumpness and fatness. Explosive blackberry and cherry fruit intermixed with coffee, smoke, and caramel soar from the glass of this complex Sangiovese. Sexy, hedonistic, and low in acidity, this effort should be drunk over the next 5-6 years.
