The 2009 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard bursts onto the palate with layers of rich, seamless fruit. Dried apricots, mango, smoke, dried herbs and tangerine are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. This, too, is totally extroverted in style, but at the same time there is more than enough minerality to balance some of the wine’s more overt tendencies. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. I have been a big fan of the Landmark wines since visiting the winery nearly a decade ago. The Chardonnays in particular remain some of the most fairly priced Chardonnays in California.Tel. The single-vineyard Chardonnays include the 2006 Chardonnay Lorenzo (a vineyard made famous by Helen Turley at Marcassin). Its light straw color is followed by aromas of honeyed citrus, orange blossom, and white peaches. Crisp, with good acidity, zesty minerality, and a medium to full-bodied finish, it will drink well for 3-4 years. The always reliable Landmark winery continues to turn out a bevy of Burgundian-styled Pinot Noirs and impressive Chardonnays.
