The 2009 La Mezcla Roja is an early-bottled, charming blend of 52% Grenache, 26% Cinsault, 16% Counoise, and the rest Zinfandel and Nebbiolo. Its light to medium ruby hue is accompanied by exuberant, Beaujolais-like aromas of strawberries, cherries, and flowers, a refreshing, lively mouthfeel, adequate acidity, and no noticeable tannin or wood. It should be served chilled at a tapas bar or bistro/brasserie over the next 12 months. This is the personal project of Tablas Creek’s longtime winemaker Neil Collins and his sister Jackie Meisinger. His wines share with Tablas Creek exceptional value as well as flexibility with various cuisines. All are screw cap-finished except for The Will.Tel. (805) 238-0845
