The most forward of Chapoutier's C?te R?tie bottlings, the 2020 Cote Rotie Quatuor is a blend of four lieux-dits: La C?te Blonde, La C?te Brune, Neve and Tupin. Minty and slightly herbal on the nose, it also folds in notes of violets and blueberries. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it finishes with impressive length.

The 2018 Cote Rotie Quatuor blends notes of raspberries and blueberries with tea leaves and leather. It's medium-bodied and crisp, with fine, silky tannins that do finish a bit drying.

Aged in demi-muids (20% new), the 2017 Cote Rotie Quatuor is a blend of four lieux-dits: C?te Blonde, C?te Brune, Neve and Coteaux du Tupin. Full-bodied and seductively rich and silky, it's nearly approachable, but it should be cellared another year or two. Notes of pencil shavings accent mixed red and blue fruit, while firm but silky tannins provide support and length on the palate.

It's fascinating to see how the 2016 Cote Rotie Quatuor has evolved since last year, with dark, savory elements largely supplanted in prominence by notes of raspberry and cedar. A blend of four estate parcels, it's medium to full-bodied, with a supple, creamy texture and silky tannins on the tart finish.

The debut vintage for this cuvée is a huge success. The 2015 Cote Rotie Quatuor blends four estate parcels into a plush, long wine with no hard edges. Pastry crust and roasted beef leave an impression similar to beef Wellington in this full-bodied, savory wine that is already approachable yet capable of aging 15-20 years.
