The most carefree and informal of the new releases from Castello della Sala is the 2017 Orvieto Classico Superiore San Giovanni della Sala. The majority of the blend (60%) is Grechetto, Procanico and Trebbiano. Those indigenous grapes are blended with 25% Viognier and 15% Pinot Bianco for additional fragrance and texture. The bouquet offers bright tones of white flower and honeysuckle with dry notes of summer grass at the back. These aromas are presented with greater intensity in this hot and dry vintage.

The 2016 Orvieto Classico Superiore San Giovanni della Sala is Grechetto and Procanico with small parts Pinot Bianco and Viognier. This is an easy-drinking wine with pretty intensity and floral fragrances. Honeysuckle and acacia give the wine an easy feel. Balanced freshness adds to its simple appeal.
