The 2008 Pinot Noir Villa di Bagnolo offers up sweet dark cherries, menthol, tar, licorice and spices. The sweetness of the fruit comes through nicely on the finish. There is an understated intensity to the wine’s length that is quite attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. These four wines from Pancrazi are all attractive. The 2007 Pinot Noir Villa di Bagnolo shows gorgeous mid-palate juiciness and depth in its perfumed red fruit. A year in French oak barrels has fleshed the wine out nicely. The 2006 Pinot Noir Villa di Bagnolo is an intense, weighty wine that needs time in the glass to express itself fully. Juicy candied cherries, violets, French oak and smoke are just some of the layers that unfold from this authoritative, highly distinctive Pinot. There is plenty of varietal character, but also a distinct sense of place that renders this a unique and intellectually stimulating wine.
