The 2008 Barbera d’Alba Pugnane shows the lighter quality of the vintage in dried flowers, berries and spices. There is a modest level of concentration in the glass, which suggests the Barbera needs to be enjoyed sooner rather than later. Still, the fruit is nicely layered with mineral elements that lead to the elegant, polished finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Proprietor Marco Marengo has been crafting superb Baroli for some time now, but his entry-level wines have been less consistently reliable. Hopefully these new releases are the beginning of a positive trend.A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including: de Grazia Imports; tel.
