The 2007 Looting Duke Shiraz is more typical of the vintage. 100% Shiraz, it was aged for 20 months in 50% new French oak puncheons (500-liter barrels) and 50% seasoned barriques. Dark ruby-colored, the nose delivers smoke, violets, incense, licorice, and blueberry. Slightly compact but seemingly in balance, this is a leaner, slightly sinewy expression of Shiraz. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the next 8-10 years. The Massena label is a partnership between the talented Dan Standish and Jaysen Collins.Importer: Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel.
